Michigan Bred Definition

The new Michigan Bred Definition for Quater Horses and Paints is as follows: A Michigan-bred horse is one that is from a mare owned exclusively by an individual, partership, association, or corporation domiciled in Michigan at the time of breeding AND:

1. The horse has an American Quarter Horse Association certificate of foal stating "Foaled in Michigan"
2. The mare is registered by February 15th of the foaling year
3. The mare is in Michigan on or before February 15th of the foaling year
4. The mare remains in Michigan until foaling and for not less than 7 consecutive months of the foaling year
